rep time: 15 min
Cook time: 12–24 hours
Yields: 1 liter
Ingredients needed:
- 500–600 g Organic Beef Bone
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (draws minerals from the bones)
- 1 organic carrots, roughly chopped
- 1 organic celery stalks, roughly chopped
- 1/2 organic onion, quartered
- 3 organic garlic cloves, smashed
- 1 tsp black peppercorns
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 slices fresh turmeric root (or 1 tsp ground)
- 2 slices fresh ginger root (or 1 tsp ground)
- 1 small handful fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt (optional, add at the end)
- Filtered water to cover (about 2 liters)
- 🔥 Instructions:
- (Optional but worth it) Roast the bones at 200°C for 30 minutes until golden — this deepens the flavor.
- Place the bones in a large pot or slow cooker. Add all the vegetables, herbs, turmeric, and ginger.
- Pour in apple cider vinegar and water until everything is just covered.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer very gently (barely bubbling) for 12–24 hours.
- For beef bones: 18–24 hours brings out the gelatin and minerals.
- Skim off foam from the surface during the first hour.
- Once done, strain the broth through a fine sieve.
- Let cool, then refrigerate. Once cold, you can scrape off the top fat layer if you prefer a lighter broth.
Storage:
- Fridge: up to 5 days
- Freezer: up to 3 months (store in jars or ice cube trays for easy use)
Chef tip:Preheat a mug with a squeeze of lemon and a pinch of black pepper to activate the turmeric.
It’s perfect as a morning elixir or afternoon pick-me-up. ✨
